Hollow Spider Tower
Hollow Spider Tower
This decorative hollow structure was created by bending and twisting extruded columns, which were then copied in a circular path and finally joined using Boolean Union on Rhino. This resulted in the closed solid polysurface, as shown below. Multiple columns were copied and arranged circularly to ensure the structure was self-supporting. Although the top of the structure protrudes at an outward angle, the taller, vertically angled base and a solid top should allow for the top portion to be printed stably. To ensure that the structure is additionally stable, a second perimeter, along with the solid top, was recommended during feedback.
Furthermore, during feedback, recommendations were provided that the structure could be enlarged from 50mm x 50mm to a larger size, which eventually led to the structure being adjusted to around 80mm x 80mm.
